  • How It Looks?

Tabla is basically a pair of 2 drums. Both the drums are different in size. One is smaller and the other one is comparatively bigger. Daya or Dahina which is also known as Chattu is completely made of wood and another one, Baya which is widely popular as Dagga is made of metal.

The Chatta means Dahina is a smaller one but considered as a highly pitched drum. Tabla players naturally keep this wooden structured cylindrical drum on their right hand side and uses their right hand to play it. Get admission to online table learning classes to get more ideas.

Similarly, the Dagga means Baya is considered to be a low pitched drum. This metal drum comes in a round kettle drum shape and tabla players uses their left hand while performing as it stays on the left hand side.

Tabla is a musical instrument that was invented in the vedic period. But where it was originated is still a matter of debate. Some say it was originated in the Indian Subcontinent , whereas some says it was originated in the middle East. Although the table is much more popular among the Rajasthani.
